I used Fred because I am familiar with his investments.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;I stated to very specific ways two of his investments could benefit from a partnership. Fred Wilson is about as actively involved as any VC out there, and there are numerous examples of where he HAS gotten involved to help his companies.  Just look at how many of his past investments have been acquired by Yahoo.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;I've personally had good success getting VCs involved in BD initiatives, but only when that involvement is tied to a specific strategy and set of business goals.
